Native
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
PC Deus Ex: Human Revolution running on PC through native. Free and complete.
How this port works
This is a native port: the game was rebuilt to run as a real PC program with no emulator in the loop. That usually means better performance, arbitrary resolution and mod support — and it is why these run well on modest hardware.
Decompilation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution
How to install
- 01This is an engine reconstructed by decompilation, not a packaged port: there is no prebuilt release, you build it, and the result is a 32-bit binary.
- 02The accepted copy is your own PC install of Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut. In its folder you will find BIGFILE.000, BIGFILE.001, BIGFILE.002 and so on, plus DXHRDC.exe.
- 03The game data goes in through an environment variable: set BIGFILE to the path of your BIGFILE.000 and run the binary. In Visual Studio that goes in the project properties.
- 04If you installed the game through Steam on Windows or Wine, the files are detected automatically and the variable is not needed.
- 05To build on Linux (a 32-bit Linux binary), the build uses DirectX 11 through dxvk-native, and CMake downloads and builds its sources for you: clone, make a native_build folder, configure with -DNATIVE_BUILD=ON and run make.
- 06To build a 32-bit Windows binary on Linux you need the Windows SDK; the project points to the xwin tool to download it on non-Windows systems, and the build expects it in a folder named winsdk beside the checkout.
- 07On Windows with Visual Studio 2019, open the local folder: it detects CMakeLists.txt and sets the build up. Pick x86, not x64.
- 08A provenance note, stated by the project: this is not a matching decompilation, and some of the integrated information comes from a debug info leak for Tomb Raider (2013), which uses a similar engine — not from a source leak of this game.
These projects ship no game data. Supply your own copy.
