How this port works
This is a native port: the game was rebuilt to run as a real PC program with no emulator in the loop. That usually means better performance, arbitrary resolution and mod support — and it is why these run well on modest hardware.
Unofficial working port of Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn running natively on iOS, Android and macOS.
How to install
- 01This is a native source port of the original Command & Conquer (Tiberian Dawn) aimed at macOS, with Android and iOS debug builds for development. There are no prebuilt releases: you compile it.
- 02It is based on the code Electronic Arts released under GPLv3 with additional terms. The repository carries no game data.
- 03The data it expects is the C&C Gold data EA released as freeware, for both campaigns: GDI and Nod.
- 04On macOS, install the tools with brew install cmake ninja pkg-config sdl2 and xcode-select --install, configure with CMake using Ninja and build the cnc_mac target.
- 05Prepare your local game data with the repository script before running, following the game data section of the README.
- 06The title menu, the tactical game, movies, keyboard, mouse and touch input all work. What does not yet: later missions, saves and unusual menus still need wider testing, there are no distributable packages, and network multiplayer is outside the current milestone.
