hard corps uprising

Xbox 360 hard corps uprising running on PC through recompiled. Free and complete.

How this port works

This is a static recompilation: tooling mechanically translates the original console binary into PC code rather than rewriting the game by hand. The result runs natively, typically with an uncapped framerate and widescreen.

Hard Corps: Uprising native PC port via static recompilation, the Xbox 360 XBLA Contra spin-off, with TRG launcher

How to install

  1. 01The accepted copy is your own Xbox Live Arcade package of Hard Corps: Uprising, and this exact version: title ID 58410A18, content type 000D0000, an STFS LIVE package, media ID 3C5663CB, game version 0.0.0.3.
  2. 02What identifies the version is default.xex: 12,955,648 bytes, CRC32 3DF903B9, SHA-256 530EDE8ED5271051A2AB19C077A97FB167E4F30B094C292E8F59D37D0D2069DC. The launcher checks the xex after extracting, because containers differ between copies.
  3. 03Download the Windows ZIP from the latest release, extract it somewhere you can write to, and run hard_corps_uprising.exe to open the launcher.
  4. 04On the Play page, use install-from-package and pick yours — a single file with a long hexadecimal name and no extension, which on an Xbox 360 drive is in Content\0000000000000000\58410A18\000D0000\.
  5. 05Wait until it says it is ready to play: about 1 GB goes into the game folder next to the program. Any other version is refused.
  6. 06The DLC (Harley Daniels, Sayuri and Leviathan) is optional and not included: install the game first, then on the DLC page pick each of your own packages. The launcher checks it is a Hard Corps: Uprising package (same title ID, content type 00000002) and refuses the game package and others.
  7. 07Installed DLC lives in the user_data folder next to the program, not in the game folder: reinstalling the game does not remove it.
  8. 08You need 64-bit Windows 10/11 with a DirectX 12 GPU, or 64-bit Linux / a Steam Deck with Vulkan, the latter experimental.

These projects ship no game data. Supply your own copy.

Frequently asked

Do I need the original game to play hard corps uprising on PC?

No. hard corps uprising is free and complete: download the release and run it, with no ROM, dump or commercial game copy.

What does "recompiled" mean?

This is a static recompilation: tooling mechanically translates the original console binary into PC code rather than rewriting the game by hand. The result runs natively, typically with an uncapped framerate and widescreen.

Will hard corps uprising run on a low-end PC?

Native ports and recompilations skip CPU emulation entirely, so they are usually far lighter than an emulator for the same console. With no published measurement for this project, though, any estimate would be guesswork — test it on your own machine.

Which systems does it support?

The current release (v0.6.1) ships builds for Windows, Linux. The game originally shipped on Xbox 360.

Is it legal to use?

The project is public and open source, maintained by saulob, and contains nothing from the commercial game. Responsibility for the game copy you use is yours — which is why the developers require you to supply your own.
