P.T. on PC

PlayStation 4 P.T. running on PC through native. Supply your own copy of the game.

About the game

A playable first-person horror teaser: a single corridor that loops and changes on every pass. It was pulled from the store in 2015 and exists only where it was already installed.

How this port works

This is a native port: the game was rebuilt to run as a real PC program with no emulator in the loop. That usually means better performance, arbitrary resolution and mod support — and it is why these run well on modest hardware.

How to install

  1. 01You need your own copy of P.T. The port is made and tested with the US release (CUSA01127), as a folder dumped from the console or a fake PKG made from it. The European release (CUSA01114) is accepted too.
  2. 02A store PKG will not do: it is encrypted for the console that bought it, and nothing here decrypts it. It is the most common mistake.
  3. 03It runs on Windows 10 or 11, on x86-64 Linux with glibc 2.38 or newer (Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13, Fedora 39, Arch and SteamOS) and on macOS 14 or newer. The card needs Vulkan 1.3; on a Mac the port ships the layer that runs Vulkan on Metal.
  4. 04Download the installer from the release, point it at the dumped folder or fake PKG and at where to install. It copies only the three game archives the port uses and can make a shortcut.
  5. 05One part of the game asks for a microphone, as on the PS4. Without one, set a key for the spoken word in the voice section of pt.ini.

Frequently asked

Do I need the original game to play P.T. on PC?

Yes. The project distributes no game data — you supply your own copy or dump. Every project in this scene works this way, and it is what lets them stay publicly hosted on GitHub.

What does "native" mean?

This is a native port: the game was rebuilt to run as a real PC program with no emulator in the loop. That usually means better performance, arbitrary resolution and mod support — and it is why these run well on modest hardware.

Will P.T. run on a low-end PC?

Native ports and recompilations skip CPU emulation entirely, so they are usually far lighter than an emulator for the same console. With no published measurement for this project, though, any estimate would be guesswork — test it on your own machine.

When was P.T. released?

The original game shipped in 2014, developed by 7780s Studio and published by Konami. This PC port is from 2026.

Which systems does it support?

The current release (v1.0.8) ships builds for Windows, Linux, macOS. The game originally shipped on PlayStation 4.

Is it legal to use?

The project is public and open source, maintained by LoreanXavier, and contains nothing from the commercial game. Responsibility for the game copy you use is yours — which is why the developers require you to supply your own.
