How this port works
This is a native port: the game was rebuilt to run as a real PC program with no emulator in the loop. That usually means better performance, arbitrary resolution and mod support — and it is why these run well on modest hardware.
SF64 PC Port
How to install
- 01You need your own US ROM of Star Fox 64, version 1.0 or 1.1 (Rev A). The SHA-1 of each is in the project’s README.
- 02The Japanese and European versions cannot generate the game data. They can be used afterwards, together with the US one, only to swap the voices (one language at a time).
- 03The ROM must be .z64; convert it first if yours is .n64.
- 04Download the release, extract everything into a folder and open starship.exe. Choose the ROM: it generates the sf64.o2r data file. There are Linux (AppImage) and macOS builds too.
- 05F1 shows the menu bar, F11 toggles fullscreen and Tab switches alternate assets.
These projects ship no game data. Supply your own copy.
