How this port works

This is a static recompilation: tooling mechanically translates the original console binary into PC code rather than rewriting the game by hand. The result runs natively, typically with an uncapped framerate and widescreen.

Tekken 3 hybrid recompilation preview with Jun Kazama, widescreen, custom skins and local asset import tools.

How to install

  1. 01You need your own Tekken 3 disc image, the US release (SLUS-00402), as CUE/BIN. The project targets that revision.
  2. 02Download the Easy Setup package from the release and extract the whole ZIP into a folder you can write to — extracting only part of the package is the most common mistake here.
  3. 03Leave at least 4 GB free: first-time setup downloads the build tools and prepares the game locally.
  4. 04Open the launcher executable, point it at your CUE/BIN image and confirm setup. The first run takes a while; later ones open straight away.
  5. 05To enable Jun Kazama the project also asks for the non-merged tekken3 and tektagt arcade sets. Without them the rest of the game works normally.
  6. 06Do not use GitHub's Code → Download ZIP button: that archive is the source code and contains no game.

Frequently asked

Do I need the original game to play Tekken 3 on PC?

Yes. The project distributes no game data — you supply your own copy or dump. Every project in this scene works this way, and it is what lets them stay publicly hosted on GitHub.

What does "recompiled" mean?

This is a static recompilation: tooling mechanically translates the original console binary into PC code rather than rewriting the game by hand. The result runs natively, typically with an uncapped framerate and widescreen.

Will Tekken 3 run on a low-end PC?

Native ports and recompilations skip CPU emulation entirely, so they are usually far lighter than an emulator for the same console. With no published measurement for this project, though, any estimate would be guesswork — test it on your own machine.

When was Tekken 3 released?

The original game shipped in 1998, developed by Namco and published by Namco. This PC port is from 2026.

Which systems does it support?

The current release ships builds for Windows. The game originally shipped on PlayStation.

Is it legal to use?

The project is public and open source, maintained by FishB0nes98, and contains nothing from the commercial game. Responsibility for the game copy you use is yours — which is why the developers require you to supply your own.
