How this port works

This is a native port: the game was rebuilt to run as a real PC program with no emulator in the loop. That usually means better performance, arbitrary resolution and mod support — and it is why these run well on modest hardware.

Dusklight brings a classic adventure to PC and mobile platforms with a variety of fixes and improvements.

How to install

  1. 01You need to dump your own copy of the Twilight Princess disc. Dolphin’s ripping guide covers how; afterwards the .iso can be converted to .rvz, with Dolphin or nodtool, to save space.
  2. 02Any commercial disc works, GameCube or Wii, except the Korean Wii release.
  3. 03Dusklight is built on the Twilight Princess decompilation, which today only matches the GameCube version byte for byte. So even with a Wii disc you will see the GameCube version’s interface.
  4. 04The minimum is a graphics card with Direct3D 12, Vulkan 1.1 or Metal. Older cards get best-effort support through Direct3D 11, without the same accuracy or performance.
  5. 05Follow the official installation guide on the project’s site — it is updated with each release, and installation differs by system.

Frequently asked

Do I need the original game to play The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on PC?

Yes. The project distributes no game data — you supply your own copy or dump. Every project in this scene works this way, and it is what lets them stay publicly hosted on GitHub.

What does "native" mean?

This is a native port: the game was rebuilt to run as a real PC program with no emulator in the loop. That usually means better performance, arbitrary resolution and mod support — and it is why these run well on modest hardware.

Will The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess run on a low-end PC?

Native ports and recompilations skip CPU emulation entirely, so they are usually far lighter than an emulator for the same console. With no published measurement for this project, though, any estimate would be guesswork — test it on your own machine.

When was The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess released?

The original game shipped in 2006, developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo. This PC port is from 2026.

Which systems does it support?

The current release (v2.0.3) ships builds for Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, iOS. The game originally shipped on GameCube.

Is it legal to use?

The project is public and open source, maintained by TwilitRealm, and contains nothing from the commercial game. Responsibility for the game copy you use is yours — which is why the developers require you to supply your own.
